Selecting the LEONA-M200K MPPT: 200 kW, 16 inputs and a 200-900 V tracking window
Summary: The LEONA-M200K is the external MPPT controller shared by the B750K and H135K: 200 kW rated, 200-1000 V PV open-circuit, 200-900 V MPPT range, 16 PV inputs across 8 MPPT channels and 99.26% peak efficiency. It decouples PV voltage from battery voltage and can be mounted near the array to shorten DC cabling. Check string temperature correction, input current and the high-voltage bus range together.

Setting the DC voltage window
PV open-circuit voltage is 200-1000 V, the MPPT tracking range 200-900 V, nominal 700 V and start voltage 250 V. Correct the string open-circuit voltage for the site record low so it stays below 1000 V, and check that the hot-condition maximum-power voltage remains above 200 V and reasonably close to the 700 V nominal point. The BOOST-BUCK stage removes the battery voltage constraint from PV design, which is the main advantage of the split architecture over an all-in-one cabinet.
Inputs, currents and protection
There are 16 PV inputs on 8 MPPT channels, 18 A maximum PV current and 19.8 A short-circuit current per input. Recommended cabling is 5 mm2 for PV, 90 mm2 for the battery and 10 mm2 for PE. Reverse-polarity protection, sustained operation under a PV-side ground short, over-temperature, over-current and over-voltage protection are built in. Multiple units parallel and can be installed next to the array, removing the combiner box and cutting cable cost and losses. The enclosure is IP65, 60 kg, with standby below 15 W and no-load below 100 W.
High-voltage bus and expansion
The high-voltage side spans 400-950 V with 700 V nominal and 280 A maximum (the B750K datasheet also lists a 210 A configuration value; follow the project point table). Communications are EMS RS485 plus battery CAN or RS485, with 4 DI and 4 DO. The H135K solution shows a 600 kWp PV example using three M200K units, while one B750K cabinet reserves six MPPT interfaces. Before expanding, confirm the battery charge-current limit and the EMS dispatch strategy so PV power cannot exceed what the battery can absorb.
Frequently asked questions
Is the M200K standard or optional?
The brochure states the MPPT controller is ordered as needed, which keeps initial cost low. Storage-only or retrofit PV projects can omit it and add units later as battery capacity and PV capacity grow.
Why mount it near the array?
Distributed MPPT placement shortens DC PV runs, cutting losses, cable cost and insulation damage risk. It matters most on multi-array C&I sites above roughly 600 kWp.
